Established in 1972, Lakeside Country Club is renowned as one of the UK's top venues for International Star Cabaret, which attracts audiences from all over the world.

Lakeside Country Club soon became famous on the cabaret circuit during the 70s, 80s and 90s claiming no fewer than 5 'Club of the Year Awards' and has continued to be uniquely successful in the new millennium attracting Top International Stars, Royalty, Seven Prime Ministers and other high profile politicians have been visitors to Lakeside establishing it, as 'The Place to go'.

Comedians like Jethro, Jim Davidson, Bobby Davero and Brian Conley, to name but a few, have all brought much laughter and merriment to packed audiences. Singers and groups like Cliff Richard, The Osmonds, The Stylistics and The Platters have all been top acts at Lakeside and have left their indelible mark at Lakeside.

Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship

Over the last 21 years Lakeside Country Club has played host to the Lakeside BDO World Professional Darts Championship. The world championship is televised to an avid UK audience by BBC Sport and subsequently screened throughout the world to over 100 million viewers.

This increasingly popular worldwide event attracts year-on-year increases in TV audiences from around the globe and brings many thousands of darts fans to Lakeside Country Club every January.

BDO Gold Cup

The Lakeside Country Club is also home to other sporting events and dart competitions including the BDO Gold Cup. On Saturday July 15th 2006, county players from all over the country descended upon Lakeside to compete in the men and women's singles and pairs.

At the end of an enjoyable day of very competitive darts the worthy winners of the men and women's singles and pairs titles are given below.

Showbiz Darts

The Lakeside Country Club has been used to record many TV programmes. The Country Club and Lakeside site are an ideal location for TV production. The latest TV program to be recorded at Lakeside is Showbiz Darts.

Showbiz Darts is a brand new series on cable and satellite games entertainment channel Challenge which will not only feature two of the best known characters in darts - Andy 'The Viking' Fordham and Bobby 'King of Bling' George but also has eight celebrities will be split into two teams of four, captained by Fordham and George, and they will then compete on the famous stage that annually hosts the most prestigious Championship in world darts, the British Darts Organisation's Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships.

The videoing of the show was performed in two sessions on Thursday 17th July 2006 in front of a packed house. The enthusiastic audiences created a great atmosphere with the help of the best darts compere in the business Martin 'Lets Play Darts' Fitzmaurice and top referee George 'The Puppy' Noble.

With hundreds of competitors from all over the UK and Europe competing for top prizes.
